Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone!
Today's post is going to be a little different mainly because I didn't have time to find any vintage pics.
But it's okay, sometimes it's good to step outside the circle.

As I  mentioned yesterday, today is Nehemiah's last day of Head Start.  I can't believe we survived his first year of school.  I remember how scared and nervous I was for him to ride on the bus.
Now, let me remind you that I used to work for the agengy that our Head Start belongs to, so I know how safe and wonderful the program is.
However, none of that matters when your sending your own kid to school.
Sending Miah to school was the greatest decision I could have made.
He's learned so much and I'm very, very proud of him.
Happy last day of school Nehemiah.  Mommy loves you!!!

I would like to switch things up a little bit for my blog posts, and I need your help.
What types of things would you like to read about?

Do you want to know more about my life?
{i.e. motherhood, dating, personal issues}

Do you want to see more posts like the ones from the A-Z challenge?

How about style and fashion?

Would you like to know about my weight loss journey and what changes I'm making in an effort to live a healthy life?

Please, pretty please comment and feel free to add your own ideas!

This week I'm thankful for all your help.
If I don't keep you interested you won't read, and let's face it what's the point of having a blog if you don't have any followers?!

Thanful Thursday

I'm finding more and more vintage items that I just cannot wait to share!
I've found interesting things from photographs to wedding dresses.
Thank goodness for the Internet right?!

Today I'm thankful for the ability to read whatever I please.
My reading material ranges from the Bible to James Patterson
to Candace Bushnell to Cosmo magazine.
I'm not restricted.
This makes me happy.

You all know that I love reading, especially magazines.
I was thrilled when I came across these vintage magazine covers.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Thankful Thursday

{like the new pic?}
I was thinking about my life and everything I've been through
in the last year,
and although so many things are difficult at the moment,
I still love being a woman!
We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for.
We love like there is no tomorrow.
We take care of others before taking care of ourselves.
We buy way too many handbags and pairs of shoes.
And we get to wear really cute clothes!

One thing I miss most about the A-Z Challenge are the lovely pictures I had to find, and the creativity it took to tie it all in.
Seeing that my What I'm Loving Wednesday posts were so similar to Thankful Thursday posts,
I decided to switch it up a bit.
I have a new found interest in vintage {hence the picture above}, so I will be displaying what I'm thankful for in terms of vintage photos.
Now I get to be creative again.
Should be fun right?!

Let me know what you think.

Enjoy!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday,
even though I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the above picture.
You can't really see the vases too well.
But anyway, I have lots I'm thankful for.

1.) School started up again yesterday, and yes I'm very thanful for that.
This means vacation is over, but it also means I survived accounting.
If I can get through that I can get through just about anything!

2.) Things ended with the ex when they did.
I found out some pretty rotten things about him, and even though I'm still angry about what I found out, I'm still deciding to move past it.
And no, this is not easy because I want to make him accountable for being a dirtbag.
I freaked out a little and sent an email that caused me to have to repent, but hey I'm not perfect.
UnFortunately I'm one of those people who have a heart, so it's not in my nature to be mean or rude.
I reacted first and prayed later, and I know better than that.  I let my emotions get the best of me, and thank God I have good friends who keep me from doing some pretty stupid things.

3.) Nehemiah had a blast on his fieldtrip to the teddy bear clinic.
His ladybug {otherwise known as Mr. B}got some stiches
and is much better.
Too bad we went from the pretend hospital over to the pediatrician's office.
Nehemiah had been complaining of a sore throat, so I made him an appointment.  Luckily he doesn't have strep throat, but he very well could develop it in the next few days.
I hate it when my son doesn't feel well.

4.) Each night I say: "Good night Miah, I love you to the moon."
Miah says: "Good night mama, I love you to the stars."
Now that's love.

5.) That I'm going to be featured on Gwen's blog, Handbag Obsessed, one Wednesday for
What's in Her Handbag Wednesday.
I just have to complete my post and send it to her.
I'm so excited!

6.) Tara at Fabulous but Evil is hosting a giveaway.
Go check her out, you'll love her blog.

7.) The sun is scheduled to appear today and tomorrow,
and
the temperature is finally supposed to leave the 40's
{yes, that's right it's been 40+ degrees here}

8.) I signed up to bake 3 dozen cookies for church.
My mom and I are going to bond over heat.
I love hanging out with her.

9.) My dad is cooking a big mother's day dinner for his favorite ladies.

10.) My cat.  I just love her.  She's my other kid.

What are you thankful for?

X is for the X-Factor

The X-Factor I'm referring to isn't the newest UK talent show.
I'm referring to the case of the X boyfriend.

Remember back when I posted here and here about the breakup that was devastating me?
That seems like an entirely different world than the one I'm now living in.
Matter of fact, it seems like an entirely different me.
It doesn't hurt anymore to think about him, but I don't find myself thinking about him all that often.
I'm officially over him and what I thought we had.
I'm not seeing anyone, and I'm not quite sure I really want to.

The company of a male someone would nice, but that's not the main focus of my life right now.
I'm pretty content, although I will admit that sometimes I do get lonely.
In due time my prince will come.
I'm most certain of it.

I will say that I don't think I ever fully healed from the relationships that damaged me the most.
You know, the relationships that started out bad and ended even worse.
The ones that strip you from your self worth, and make you doubt who you really are.
Yeah, I've had two of those.

So now that leaves me with two choices:
1.) get over it and leave the past behind me
2.) dwell on it and ruin future relationships

I think I'll go with option 1.

So for this week's Thankful Thursday,
I'm thankful for getting over the breakup
and for being a strong woman who knows what she wants.

L is for Lauren

As in Lauren Conrad.
I've been reading the L.A. Candy Series,
and I'm completely hooked.
I've learned of this darling series from one of my fellow bloggers,
but I don't remember which one-sorry.
So thank you to whomever it was that had these books
listed on their blog.

I'm on book three and I'm sad it's almost over.
update: i finished the book last night
If you have not read any of the books, and you like young adult girly books,
this series is for you my friend.
I never watched Laguna Beach or The Hills,
but I now consider myself a L.C. fan.

So considering that today is Thankful Thursday
I'm thankful for good books
and cute clothes!

Here are some of my favorite items from L.C.'s collection @ Kohl's,

LC Lauren Conrad Asymmetrical Rosette Charmeuse Dress

LC Lauren Conrad Brushstroke Chiffon Dress

LC Lauren Conrad Floral Chiffon Top

LC Lauren Conrad Textured Open-Front Cardigan

LC Lauren Conrad Vermont Peep-Toe High Heels

LC Lauren Conrad Rosette Chiffon Top

LC Lauren Conrad Silver-Tone Leaf Drop Earrings

I'm thinking the first dress would make a cute little number for me to wear on Easter.

What books have you read lately,
and what could you see yourself wearing?
What are you thankful for?
